The Spainish Inquisition - Spain

April 2006Allegations have circulated for years that the Spanish police are regularly torturing ETA suspects. Now, these claims have been backed up by the UN. We hear from some victims. On January 17, 2002, Susana Alesanco's life fell apart. "Lots of cops entered my home carrying machine guns. It was like a scene from a movie." Suspected of being a member of ETA, she was detained and tortured. "They kept me naked, threw water on me, applied electricity to me." She was also asphyxiated, deprived of sleep and sexually assaulted. Her story is not unique. "Suspects will be softened up through torture to sign the statements the government wishes them to make," states the UN's special rapporteur on torture, Theo van Boven. But the government denies all allegations and has renounced the UN's report.

This video is FUD.Torture is not rooted in Spain. Unfortunately, a few cases of torture occur, but they are not focused on ETA criminals and perpetrators are prosecuted. Torture is not more prevalent in Spain than it is in the UK or Germany.ETA internal guidelines state that upon detention, ETA members should always claim that they were tortured/abused in order to trigger an investigation of these claims, delay legal actions against them, and stain the reputation of Spanish police forces.

I don't know if this story is true...but this documentary is quite bad they don't show any evidences at all only reproductions based on one person's testimony...by the way, ETA had killed about 800 spanish (and basque) citicents

absolutely biased report, it's constantly noticeable the lack of understanding of the producers. I'ts a very serius situation to be treated with such ignorance by foreigners. ¿How is it that from the beginning it gives more credit to certain individuals than to a whole nation?

Seriously, wtf is up with the reporter that made this and that UN guy. They're idiots. They're taking the word of terrorists as true on face value.

Also, that UN guy is a jackass. He wanted the Spanish to come to Geneva to prove that they were not torturing anyone. How about he prove that there was torture, first.

Todos en la vida tenemos que dar algo para que unos pocos no lo den todo.
