BILL MOYERS JOURNAL | Jeremy Scahill | PBS
Bill Moyers interviews investigative journalist Jeremy Scahill about Blackwater -- in this clip Scahill tells the incredible story of armed Blackwater troops being sent into New Orleans on the order of Blackwater CEO Erik Prince in the aftermath of Katrina. Bill Moyers Journal, airing Friday, October 19th at 9 on PBS, examines what's behind Prince's recent blitz of television interviews defending his private security firm when officials in Iraq said they wanted the company out of their country in the wake of the shooting deaths of Iraqi civilians on September 16. Scahill is the author of the bestselling book: Blackwater: The Rise of the World's Most Powerful Mercenary Army. blackwater guards and other "mercenaries" dont go to iraq and afghanistan to do missions like our military. their purpose is to protect diplomats, vips, provide security for convoys. when they are not in iraq or afghanistan they are protecting vips and other diplomats around the world, regardless of what the media makes them out to be they are not a bunch of wild cowboys who think they are above the law.

The "abuse" they committed was being a private citizen patrolling the streets of an American city. That's a job for the National Guard or Police in the case of a disaster, not effing Black Water, or regular army troops. Consult your copy of the constitution, maybe that will help you figure it out.

Erik Prince "crosses the Rubicon". I am glad there are reporters like Scahill who notices and has the guts to report and speak out against it. I wouldn't want Erik Prince to think I was an enemy of his. I wonder what all those mercenaries will be called on to do once they return from Iraq ?

In October, the Army plans to station an active unit inside the US for the first time to serve as an on-call federal response in times of emergency. The division will be under the control of US Army North. The Army Times says this mission is the 1st time an active unit has had a dedicated assignment to Northern Command. The unit may be called to help with civil unrest & crowd control. Soldiers are learning to use "nonlethal" weapons designed to subdue unruly or dangerous individuals and crowds.

Why do you assume he's a Democrat-because he talks like he has a brain in his head? Because he actually reports the news?
