No - YOU'RE wrong. Tir na N'Og is Ireland's land of eternal youth. The filmmaker purposely put 'nan' here - or else didn't know how to spell Tir na n'Og. Look it up in the Irish language and in Irish folklore and you'll see I'm right.

I want to get transported to Tir Nan Og in my old age . . . to be forever youthful with the ones I love.

Actually, no. Tir Nan Og is the Celtic land of eternal youth, where the Irish faeries, the Tuatha de Danaan, live.

The tutor is her grandmother. The man in the mask is her long dead grandfather whom her grandmother joins in the other world across the river (styx?). The child, of course, does not immediately recognize him as thoughts of death are alien to young and vital children.
