The hair metal thing was a direct result of music biz imaging (MTV), promo, and marketing. What's good about bands like you listed is their music still holds. If they wanted to write new, similar stuff and tour the circuits like the current day acts, they could because their music would hold. They'd just have to play online to build fan followings. :-)
