Bill Hicks: What is the point to Life

This is totally profound but TRUE, heard it many years ago, but the full implications only hit me the other day. Sheer Genius, and sadly missed. Bill doesn't go down well with a lot of Christian Folk(Right Wing) but for me he epitomises the whole Christian view on life, common sense, look through the traditions and see the essence of what life is and what it COULD be.

this segment, which he did for so many years, with variations, feels so much like the eulogy that he deserves. If all he left us was this rant, with that conviction that he had, and it was spread like the word of any great figure in religion, philosophy of doctrine, then maybe the world would be a much better place already. It's up to us people...

of course it's unrealistic. that's the point of bill hick's joke - reality is just a ride and everything in it is nothing but vanity. so why not use all that vanity like money and power for something good? it's a good example of lateral thinking, the kind of reasoning exhibited by saints and madmen and prophets. i think that jesus would have been as funny to his audience during his time when he said the words "love your neighbor." realism isn't the point because reality as we know it sucks.
