it's puzzling how Americans would rather buy tanks and bombs for Israel than buy health insurance for their own families. I've heard a lot of Americans are losing their homes to foreclosure. Where do they plan to live? In an Israeli Merkava tank?

You list pregnancy which really adds to how bad this problem is. I live in Canada, and anyone can tout socialized medicine if they want (we're a democracy duh) but all I know is my children are covered from a papercut to heart transplant with a swipe of a card. We've eliminated the advantage takers of inevitable health problems, and competition only exists with the choice of second opinions. It ain't perfect, but a card swipe is better than uncertainty. Kids to the elderly get it all.

I agree health insurance sucks in the USA. I have an annual $2000 deductible with no copay options before I get any coverage. I basically can't afford to go to the Dr. or get prescriptions so I suffer when sick. If I get struck down with a major illness or pregnancy, I am screwed. Not many people except for the rich can afford to pay this much out of pocket each year.

Yeah, I suppose it rules if you can actually afford it. Why can't the richest country in the world afford to give away healthcare for free? Are you all so terrified of the 'evils' of socialism that you are prepared to let innocent people suffer. Americans often boast that your country was founded on the idea that all men are born equal. So doesn't everyone deserve the same level of care regardless of how much money they have?
