I just got the DMC-FX38 the other day and have bin havin a blast wit it,its got all the bells and whistles but have been now trying to get down to the nitty gritty with manual mode and messin round with settings, I realise that it is still justa compact camera, but I been snapping some nice and creative photos.will have to put up some video of it.this is my first lumix, it came highly recomended by most of the shops I looked at, what with the feature set, aswell as the 25mm super wide leica lens

hi [=I was just wondering and im not sure if this question was already answered or brought up but, when filming videos, is it muted when you zoom? because I own a black Samsung S500 and it's not all that great, in fact, when I take videos, it mutes in playback when I zoom in & out and ruins the whole video. But this panasonic is much more nicer than I expected and i'm looking forward to purchasing it soon [=

What would you choose the TZ5 or FX35?Its for my mum who wants a simple point and shoot but takes sharp bright pictures (we're going skiing). Although mum would like it simple i am a quite keen photographer and will defiantly borrow it alot and will use the more advanced features.Thanks In Advance

To be honest, I have never zoomed whilst using a camera's video mode - when youre watching it back it tends to make the viewer feel quite sick - like if you pan around too much.
