John Williams is brilliant musically--compared to me.Otherwise--not so much.

I hope Williams lives forever. Noone compares to him in my IMHO.Even with all the acclaim he gets I think he is underrated. He's too often associated with his big brassy themes but even in those same movies he does sooo much more than that. Then there's scores like this one, Schindlers List, Fiddler on the Roof. Then there's the fact that he started out at a jazz pianist and scored films in that syle. Speilberg 1st hired Williams for jazz after hearing "The Reivers". Great score :)

Goth damned, I love John Williams! And I love Itzhak Perlman! And they are together once again for the Geisha... Great...

problem is williams music sounds the same across multiple movies, and you can actually hear some of the same bars used in multiple songs in multiple soundtracks

I do believe Danny Elfman is a great composer and I love his melodies A LOT! But John Williams is superior in that he does his own orchestrations and conducting. As a composer, I wouldn't want it any other way unless time retrained that leisure. I couldn't chose between the 2 though.

He is the most popular, no doubt, but I think Morricone is a better musician. Williams is very repetitive at times (just listen to Superman, Star Wars, E.T. they all sound similar).

What?! This is incredibly unique. In fact, John has NEVER done anything with this theme.
